SEP has already been installed on SOME PC's and it was installed before the SEPM server was in place, I do not want to re install, I just want to get the clients to adhere to the SEPM server and report to it for updates

How can this be done? I have already added the machine to the SEPM server but I do NOT see that it is actively reporting. I do NOT want to re install it, I just want to get the stand Alones to communicate with the SEPM server as clients.

    Thank you

How to change a Symantec Endpoint Protection client from unmanaged to managed

1.Copy of the file Sylink.xml from the server from C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\data\outbox\agent\
    imagebrowser image
    2. On the client computer , click Start > Run, type smc -stop, and click OK.
    3. Copy the Sylink.xml into the C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection folder, and replace any existing Sylink.xml file.
    4. Click Start > Run, type smc -start, and click OK

You can create this sylink.xml file from the SEPM console also...
Right click on the group to which you want to add the clients and export communication settings. It creates a xml file(You can save as sylink.xml).

    __________________________________________________________
Use Sylinkdrop as mentioned in the doc with this xml file to make the clients as managed....
    ___________________________________________________________

    .OR
    ___________________________________________________________
You can use Sylink Remote and Sylink Replacer to  replace the sylink on more than on machine at the same time.
    Try these...

Also check the firewall in the clients.
You can disable or create a exception for SEP communication ports

Select any of these numbered folder ( name starting with Number)  and copy the Sylink

Once we replace the sylink , the client will move to the default group then you can move them in the respective group
