It is normal. Basic contents not be added defintion and other content and it will download after installation

Check the article

Basic content excludes the content. Once insalled, the client will go out to LiveUpdate and download what it needs.

Full content contains all the content in the package so it won't go out to LiveUpdate after the install is complete.

Agree with Brain.
Basic content won't contain virus definition which is normally about 400MB. That's reason the client package is small. Installing this package will may SEP client to download content from either public liveudpate or SEPM depending on your live setting policy.Downloading contents makes use more bandwidth.

Best recommend is to create the full content package because after the installation it will be download the delta package which is required according to the last creation date.

Hi Sankara,

When installing SEP clients, I recommend that you do include all of the available components (or AV + IPS + SONAR + Download Insight, at a minimum).  AV alone is not enough for complete protection against today's threats.
