  • 1.  SEP Linux - liveupdate.conf is empty after update?

    Posted Aug 17, 2010 08:17 AM

Hi all... I have installed SAVLINUX from SEP 11.0.6 dvd on a linux masnine. Everything works great except the part of liveupdate. I mean, I followed the instructions for sav linux installations and created a liveupdate.conf with needed information in it, but after I did /sav liveupdate -u , /etc/liveupdate.conf is empty ??? I did some research on the internet and I saw that  I need to install JCE into the Java installation. Is this correct and if it is, can someone PLEASE explain how can I install Java JCE on linux ?

    Thank you in advance

    Check this article

Running Java LiveUpdate (JLU) via command-line results in a 0 byte liveupdate.conf

To allow JLU to properly encrypt the liveupdate.conf file, you must apply the Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction Policy Files to the installation of Java being used to execute JLU

What versions of Java are compatible with Symantec AntiVirus for Linux?

The instructions for installing the JCE are in the JCE download in a readme file. Basically you need to copy the jar files to the JAVA_HOME/lib/security/ directory. This will overwrite the regular strength files that are there.
