    64 bit. No idea what version because it's through my Univeristy's IT, probably 12.x. SEP_INST log attached.

    It's windows 8 OS ?

    If yes try this articles and check

    This problem is fixed in Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 Release Update 3 (12.1 RU3). For information on how to obtain the latest build of Symantec Endpoint Protection, read ‘Obtaining the latest version of Symantec Endpoint Protection or Symantec Network Access Control’

    If it is not immediately possible to upgrade, you can work around this problem using one of the following:

    • Disable Windows Defender before installing the SEP client
    • Remove KB2781197 before installing the SEP client

    Yes. WIndows 8.1. Thanks!

    I'm not sure I can update to RU3 because I have to access the setup file from my university's IT website and there's no serial #, etc. I'll have to check with IT on Monday. I already tried the other two solutions, which don't seem to work. Windows update doesn't list KB2781197 in the installed updates for me. Maybe because the computer is too new?

    If it is Windows 8.1, the first supported SEP version is RU4

    HI,

    You have try install  SEP 12.1.2.This version are not supported windows 8.1.

    SEP 12.1.4 are first version which are supported windows 8.1 and windows server 2012 R2.

    Your  ProductVersion=12.1.2015.2015 and it not be support to Window 8.1.

    System Requirements for Symantec Endpoint Protection, Enterprise and Small Business Editions, and Network Access Control 12.1.4

    You can download the 12.1.4 client setup from File Connect and install on the Window 8.1 System
