SEP Manager 12.1.5 make all connect and process of Server 2003 very slow

Sure, SEPM can run on VM or physical.

    Hello everyone,

    My Server 2003 running SEP Manager 12.1.5, When SEP Manager running a perior of time about 5-10 minutes it cause system slowdown and other PC cannot connect to Server to printe file word, I much hard reset Server

    When it boot and running 5-10 minutes, it stunning agains, so I had reset Server 2-3 time a day, very annoying,

    Can anyone have solution?

    What is going on during this time, what process is eating up the CPU or memory? Is the SEPM on its own dedicated server or on a shared box with other apps?

    Those are VERY low system specs for a box performing multiple activities. This is a big part of your problem. You need more memory for one thing, minimum 4GB of RAM. It's also a DC?

    Nope, SEP client allready update before, but how can I check that SEP updating???

    Does that time SEP client defination updated ?

    What process take high memory ?

    How to turn off Active Scan when new definitions arrive

    Check below location virus defination folder has been created.

     

    C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\CurrentVersion\Data\Definitions\VirusDefs

    Or

    Check SEP client system logs

    SEP client GUI->View Logs->Virus and spyware -> view logs

    Whether it's updating or not is irrelevant. Your system specs are too low!

    No Brian, it a printer server,

    It had 2 process highest, dbsrv12.exe and sms.exe, it running about 500,000 KB

    That's part of the problem. SEPM should have it's own dedicated box. Either that or add more memory. 2GB won't cut it. If LiveUpdate is running, that won't help either. Not to mention you have print services running...

    Minh, how many machines you have in your network which are managed by SEPM, if they are less then its better to uninstall SEPM and have them installed as unmanaged , they still function the same way.

    Do not burden your server,

    Aside from the fact you can't centrally manage them.

    So you just dropped your whole sepm in favor of going unmanaged?? How many clients do you even have here?

    I have 100 clients on my system, I think I need to upgrade SERVER RAM cause it too much client to make unmanager.

    Or move it to a dedicated box. Removing your SEPM leaves you without the ability to manage clients centrally.
