  • 1.  SEP Manager Remote Console Won't Load Home/Monitors/Reports Tabs

Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager 12.1.671.4971 will not load the Home, Monitors or Reports tabs on my XP Pro SP3 system. The loading animation just runs indefinitely whenever I click on those tabs, but it will load the Policies, Clients and Admin tabs just fine.

I currently have Java 1.6 updates 7, 24 and 29 installed, as well as 1.5u15. The app runs fine on my Windows 7 box, as well as another XP system on the network. This system was previously running Endpoint Protection 11.x and was just upgraded to 12.x, which appears to be working fine. I don't believe that the remote console was previously installed at all. What could keep it from running on this system?

Install java 1.6 update 7 and see if SEP is working fine.

Also how many clients do you have on this SEPM ? if its more than 10 then you need to change the communication settings to Pull mode and heartbeat as 15 mins.

As mentioned in the original post, I already have 1.6u7 installed. There are approximately 50 clients. Where do I change the settings you mentioned?

Changing the mode and heartbeat appears to have fixed the problem.

When is Symatec going to update this so we the customer do not have to rely on an old outdated version of Java. How secure can this be?
