    Posted Feb 15, 2015 11:32 PM

    Dear all,

I am currently using SEP Manager version 12.1.3001.165 and already been able to manage the client fro the console.

However, I would like to check if I can use the SEP Manager to download the full package of virus definition and deploy the delta update to my clients PC as I would like to control the bandwidth in my remote office site.

Is it feasbile to do it?

Many thanks if anyone can provide some sharing or solution in here.

Are you using GUP in remote site ?

You can configure GUP in remote site.

SEPM is designed to generate delta virus definition and distribute to the clients. The more the content revision, the more delta generation.

Configuring Group Update Provider will help to improve on the bandwidth utilization.

To control the bandwidth on remote location you are really require to create the GUP Server on client location which can distribute the defintion locally and use the local bandwidth.

It can get the delta definition and distribute according to the requirement

Note - port 2967 is require to open from firewall for the connectivity of client with GUP.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

I would be glad to answer your query.

However, I would like to check if I can use the SEP Manager to download the full package of virus definition and deploy the delta update to my clients PC as I would like to control the bandwidth in my remote office site. Is it feasbile to do it?

--> Yes, it's feasible with the help of Group Update Provider (GUP). At lease one client i.e.GUP will have to take full.zip or delta updates over the WAN link. Particular GUP will update rest of the clients at that site.

There must be sufficient bandwidth between the GUP and the SEPM to allow the GUP to download the full and delta definition packages being requested by SEP clients. The larger the spread of definition revisions used by the clients, the larger the bandwidth utilization between the SEPM and the GUP.

Follow best practices guide to configure GUP:
