SEP mgmt console logs you in and logs right back out

I have a weird issue. We have SEP 11X and when trying to log into the SEP management console, it takes my login, and appears to work, and then logs us right back out within a second. I cannot access the console, and the web version is not working either. The database is working and clients are getting updated successfully, but I need to get into the console to manage it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Did you try restarting the SEPM service or SEPM box altogether?

Is there a corresponding alert in the Windows event log?

Check this KB article

After the login on the console the admin is logged out from the console quickly

Thanks for getting back to me. I did try the article you described, and have also tried restarting services and the server in general.

This is on a Server 2003 server, but through the article you could browse to the same location. One thing I found weird is that the PHP folder is empty. I did have to add the IUSR account, and I do not have just an IUSR account, I have a few IUSR_*** accounts, so I added what I thought was the correct one.

I am going to try a repair and see if that helps. Any other ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The repair requires the .msi for the console, and it will not look at my .msi for it, despite it being the proper .msi it needs. I think at this point it might be time to gather the files for disaster recovery and redo the console :(

Repair is a good thought - it should reinstall any missing files and the management configuration wizard will restore corrupt or missing configuration.

Is the msi the same version as already installed sepm?

Some disaster recovery documentation if you need it: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag...

first try the repair, it clearly states that its missing some files and needs .msi

check the version you have installed. and then point it out to the right version of msi. that should save you lot of time

You guys are right, I don't know why I didn't think of that before. The .MSI I am trying to point to is for an update we were to do. I need the older version. I will see if a repair fixes the issue. Thank you all!

I don't know why I even said I would look for the old version, I might as well just update everything! That should help!

So the upgrade worked great. I am in the console now. I see it went from 11.0.2 to 11.0.5 (I know, they are quite behind on the times, my next step is to get them upgraded to the latest)

I see all of the clients now, but none of them are connected back to the mgmt console. Do I need to try to push a manual update to them now?

Give it some time. Since you had to stop the SEPM service, they wouldn't have been able to connect. Verify the service is started and they should begin checking back in.

How long has it been?

Yep, I just didn't wait long enough, we are good now! All of the clients have resynced and I now have a fully functioning console! Thanks everyone for your help!
