NOTE: This patch will only upgrade 32-bit Clients. If you need to upgrade your Symantec Enpoint Protection Manager to 11.0 MR2 MP1, you must download the complete update from File Connect.

Ummmm, not yet available?

Installed it and it looks like it got my last problem (client only installation) solved, which was the Outlook crashes when moving to an email with attachments using the "arrows" on top of the Outlook window.
Finally after 8 month it seems Symantec got their product right.

Are there any directions on how to install or deploy this patch? Can it be deployed from the SEP Console without updating the SEPM Console? Can the client update be set to update the SEP Client install packages?

It is a partner program with Symantec, there are silver, gold and platinum. Find out if your company is a Symantec Partner. Gets determined around sales, certifications etc..

I fully agree that this it taking way to long to get posted.  I have been putting off deployments of Symantec Endpoint for this reason etc.

I waited for MR2 and waited a few weeks after and decided that I will stay on with MR1 MP1 for now.

I might wait for MR3 and enjoy my summer.

I was told by the support the MR1 will fix may problem with no more disk space on C: drive (I did not thing the support knew more about what to do than me). I upgraded with a lot of problem to MR1 and It did not resolve anything!!!!
Now they tell me that I should upgrade to MR2 to resolve the problem!!!
Can they just use LiveUpdate to correct there bugy program! Do they think that is the only thing we have to do is to do upgrade manually to correct bugs every 3 month!
The Antivirus 10 was alredy full of bugs, and 11 it is not better.
No no and no, I will not spend time upgrading this very bad software again to find out that it will correct nothing.
I have enought of this, we will not migrate, but we will change to Live OneCare de Microsoft.

Is MR2 MP1 just a patch that you install on the client? Or you have to upgrade SEPM as well?

Hi,

Where can I find the release note of MR2 MP1? I want to take a look at what issues are resolved. I'm on a fresh implementation of MR2, and everything works fine so far. I might just skip this release and wait for the next one or just let it be since it's not breaking anything.

Ok sure. Only the "paying more customers" get to fix their issues. :smileymad:  I'm still waiting to put this back on our domain controller which the original release killed.

I still can not download this new CD image.

When I go to fileconnect for many of the client license numbers all I can get is:
   Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_11_0_2000_MR2_AllWin_EN_CD1.zip    11.0.2000 MR2  392,836,184  11-Apr-2008 SHA-1
   Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_11_0_2000_MR2_AllWin_EN_CD2.zip    11.0.2000 MR2  161,719,733  11-Apr-2008 SHA-1

I work for a MS Gold Partner and have been holding off installing any new Endpoint installations, waiting for this product to be ready for production use.  Yes I have tested it.  It has cost my company and its customers time and money for all of its faults.  I want Symantec to be successful.   Symantec needs to understand that it is urgent that they resolve these issues today not next month.

I have some Windows Server 2008 installations that need to be done this summer.  Yet Symantec does not have SEPM for that OS.  No dates have been given when there will be SEPM for Windows Server 2008!

Symantec, please help your partners of technology to be successful!

I just connected and was able to get MR2 MP1 from FileConnect.  All that was available was International English.  The rest were still just MR2.  It wasn't there yesterday when I checked it, but was this morning (about 4 hours ago).

As far as I know, as of this posting MR2MP1 is available on FileConnect for customers with SEP11 serial numbers only. If you have a SEP Multi-tier or Small Business Edition serial number MP1 is not yet available. Once the site has been updated and the files replicated, they will be available for everyone. No ETA at this time on that. Additionally, I have verified this myself by logging in with each type of serial number.

Knotty:

The link you provided is not in place to provide information on when MR2MP1 will be available. It also does not pertain to any specific build. The document is provided as generic information for our customers to know where to go to download the product and/or any available product builds/patches that will resolve issues they are experiencing in a particular KB document they are reading at the time. Such documents may direct customers to a specific build or patch. However, product/build/patch availability also depends on, as stated above, the customer's serial number.

Hope this clears things up a bit! :smileyhappy:

Where can I find documentation/recomendations on upgrading the SEPM? Or is it a case of just runnig the setup.exe from the SEPM folder in CD1?

Thanks,

I have installed the new MSP1 patch for MR2.  However, it doesn't look like any of my clients are updating to the new version.  I have added the ne wpackage to the Install Packages tab under Clients just like the past updates.  Where in the logs can I find if there is any issues push the client out.

Thanks,

If you are having trouble with package distribution / distributing this helped us. Try that:
In active directory group policy, do the following configuration;

    activate this configuration
    computer configuration>windows settings>security settings>local policies>security options>network access:sharing and security model for local accounts

and select the
"Classical: Local users authanticate as themselves" option.

This disables simple file sharing but I don't know if it would have any side effects. Any ideas?

My packages took a while. Then I ran the dbunload utility. Then the clients were being updated.

Guess that huge DB was taking up way to much CPU time.
