Endpoint Protection

Hello, I'm having some issues deploying SEP to a client via the AD Group policy.

I get very little errors msgs and the ones that i do get don't say much.

in the event log I get:

When I look the only log file I found for Symantec in the users temp folder it reads like this: see attacment


If I push the client from SEP manager it installs fine.
The package I'm using for AD install is the same package that SEP Admin uses to deploy.

What am i missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, if you need more info please let me know.

Are you trying to deploy over previous SAV clients? If not, what version of SEP are you upgrading from?

No this is a plain XP machine, no upgrade.

Hi Thomas, no this is not an upgarde it's a clean XP machine I did a test, I went to the share where I'm the msi is stored. and i launched the msi manually. It installed no issues. What could be wrong? Adriano

When programs are assigned to a computer, the computer tries to access the software installation share by using the credentials of the computer account. Computers that are running Windows Server 2003, Windows XP Professional, or Windows 2000 require Kerberos authentication. Windows NT 4.0 is not Kerberos-aware and can provide only NTLM authentication. Therefore, authentication is unsuccessful.

To resolve this issue, host software installation shares on Windows 2000-based or Windows Server 2003-based computers.

The software installation share is on 2003, my entire domain is 2003 R2. This doesn't apply.

I would recommend you open a case with Symantec ASAP. Please Provide these logs to the technician assigned to the case.
Update here when you have found the cause of your issue.

Was this issue resolved? I'm having the exact same problem.

I opened a case with symantec. The conclusion was that SEP does not support deployment to users. In my case deploying to a computer from AD is working fine.

I've been asked to submit an "enhancement request" so I will do that.
