  • 1.  SEP Out-of-Date Client

I have SEP 12.1 installed with 15 clients.  For some reason one client is not getting updated.  SEP indicates that the client is connected but the last virus update is over a week old.  Any thoughts?

Here is what fixed the problem.  I ran it on the out of date client.

    1.Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel

    2. Uninstall LiveUpdate (if it is listed)

    3. Deleted the  C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate  and  C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate folders (if they still exist)

    4. Reinstalled LiveUpdate

    5. Back to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel

    6. Ran a "Repair" on Symantec Endpoint Protection

You could try going to add/remove programs on the affected client machine and do a repair to the client, without getting into too much troubleshooting. Once repaired, make sure client is reporting to server and that client has latest policy from the server. Run LiveUpdate and see if your definitions are updated.

Run Liveupdate from the Endpoint Manager and see if it runs without any error, Also check client communication, i.e. if the clients are communicating with the Endpoint Manager.

    Hello JPAUMC,

    I agree with SolarisMaestro.

Among the 15 clients, there is only 1 client which is facing the issue.

So concentrating more on 1 specific client with the issue would be a good option.

Repairing the Client from Add/Remove Programs is a Good and 1st Troubleshooting Option in your case.

There are couple of things, you need to look at in your case.

    1) Is the Symantec Endpoint Protection client managed / Unmanaged?

    2) Is the Client Machine connected to Internet?

    3) What happens when you perform: START> RUN > luall.exe

    4) Does the step 3 resolve the issue? If not, What Error code do you receive??

    5) Work on the Article below:

    Hope that helps!!
