    Check the thread

    64-bit OS will only allow you to install a 64-bit version os SEP, same with a 32-bit OS

    is this exported package, if yes the name of the folder will be something like 'My Company_groupname_WIN32BIT'  win 32 bit will indicate it's 32 bit package.

    Other way is you can extract the package.

    After extraction there one file with the name of SetAid.ini.

    Open the file, there one tab will avaialble

    PlatformType=WIN32BIT

    PlatformType=WIN64BIT

    *Edit*

    More information(This path available in extracted folder)

    D:\12.1.671.4971\setup\System32\Drivers\Name\Version\BuildNum\x64

    D:\12.1.671.4971\setup1\System32\Drivers\Name\Version\BuildNum\x86

    The above mention are the difference which i have found in 32 and 64 bit packages.

    You can try and check

    Alsoi there is one msi file available in extracted folder Sep.msi is for 32 bit and Sep64.msi for 64 bit.

    This may clear you about the package.

    Hi,

    If you have only setup.exe file then you can't identify whether it's a 32bit or 64bit.

    If you have .msi file then you can identify it.

    However 32bit package can be installed on 32 bit OS and 64 bit package can be installed on 64 bit OS.

    It will give compatibility error if tried to install 32 bit package on 64bit OS or vice versa.

    Hi,

    If a machine is 64 bit then only a 64 bit package will work on it .If you try to install a 32 bit it will not allow you to do so. It depens on the PlatformType while installing any product.

    You will face an error as below.

    This version does not support 64 bit Platforms.Please install Symantec Endpoint Protection for Win64 instead.

    You dont need to worry as 32 bit package will not work on 64 bit OS.

    If you still want to confirm open SEP_INST file from %temp% and you will be able to find that a 64 bit platform software has been installed.

    Hope that helps!!
