    Hi support,

We are migrating Mcafee Total Protection version 5 to SEP versioin 11.0.6 MP1. I have done the installation last friday and configure all the necessary policies and settings. I have created the client installation package and push to the client. From the client process manager, i saw the SETUP.EXE is running then it disappered after a while. By right it should continue with MSIEXEC.EXE process in order to complete the installation. Now my problem is the installer package does not continue after running the SETUP.exe.

I have removed the previous antivirus version from the client machines. No group policy blocking and i am using the domain administrator accont to do the installation. Please advise what are the possibilities to block my installation. Thank you very much.

    Regards,

    Boon Hong

What type of installation you chose for these clients? Attended / Unattended / Silent ?

If you choose Silent you may see MSIEXEC.EXE process running, try to copy the Package manually on one client and then try to install manually and see if that works.

    Hi Support,

I have created the package with Attended installation type. I have copied the installer to the client machine and run manually, but the installation does not run completely. There is no error or warning found in the event log.

I copy the same installer to the new setup machine without any antivirus install before, the installer runs perfectly without any problem. I am sure the installer package does not have any problem.

I have done the SEPM deployment for many customers, but i failed to carry out for this customer. Please advise what i can try or check for this problem.

    Hi Support,

Where is the temp folder for the package installation? I need to analyse the log to find out the issue. Thanks.

Restart the PC and try to install. There may be some left out of old antivirus.Remove it using some tools. You may use Universal Antivirus Uninstaller for this.

You can find the log in Start > Run > %temp% or C:\Windows\Temp. The name of the file would be SEP_INST.log, upload the file.

    Hi Support,

There is no log file found after running the setup.exe. I have logged a call to Symantec and troubleshooting on the line with your helpdesk. After checking the SEPM server setup and client machine, no problem found. Conclusion from Symantec is there might have some conflicts with other applications, so the setup.exe will terminate after a while.

After putting down the phone, I have uninstall the applications one by one from the machine. After uninstalling one of the SAP applications, the problem has been resolved.
