Scenario.

I upgraded my SEPM version from 11 RU 7 to 12.1 RU3. We are now on the process of upgrading the clients (which are currently running on either version SEP 11 RU6 or SEP 11 RU7).

We will be using Auto upgrade in SEPM Clients page. Adding Client Install Package > General > Client Settings, there's this option Maintain existing client features when updating.

Since are current version is 11. What will happen if we check this option? Let's say we have existing AV&AS plus PTP installed. Will it keep AV and AS SEP 11 features without adding the latest features of SEP 12 such as Download protection or it will be added? Will it still add the SONAR protection features of SEP 12 for PTP?

If ptp is instaleld it will install Sonar, this was fixed in first relase

Clients lose protection technologies after SEPM is migrated from 11.x to 12.1
Fix ID: 2436468
Symptom: Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager is migrated from 11.x to 12.1.  Existing 11.x clients receive a policy that incorrectly instructs them to change feature states, removing some or all protection technologies. This problem is encountered only if an 11.x package is previously deployed with the "maintain existing feature states" option.
Solution: The 11.x client installation feature states were not correctly mapped to the 12.1 feature states in the policy file. The mapping was modified to resolve this issue.

When You will upgrade SEP 11.x to SEP 12.x all Previous version are first uninstall and reinstall your new version.
