Using SEP 11.0 MR2 MP2 per my company's policy. Late on March 31, I ran LiveUpdate and a full scan in anticipation of Conficker. No errors detected. After that I powered down the pc. Today, April 3, I powered up and got an error symbol on the SEP icon. I opened the console and found that Proactive Threat Protection was turned off. I clicked the "Fix" button and it turned on successfully. I ran a scan on an external disk drive, which then required a reboot. I did so, and again Proactive was turned off. I turned it back on, but I'm concerned as to why it keeps turning off. The SEP logs say things loaded successfully.
I downloaded the SEP Support Tool and ran it. The one thing that caught my eye was that it says the WPSHelper service is not running. I have looked at Services and can't find anything like that in the list. It -is- possible that, in trying to make that old pc run a bit faster, I changed that service to manual start on March 31. But I still can't locate it in the list of services.
My questions: (1) Where can I find WPSHelper in the list of services? (2) Can that have anything to do with Proactive being turned off? (3) If not, how can I determine why it's turned off after a restart?
