After Upgrade to RU5 Sep Protection manager not connecting from remote computer.
    There is Java exception

    java.io.FileNotFoundException: http://mailserver:9090/clientpkg/ext/smtp.jar
     at sun.reflect.GeneratedConstructorAccessor2.newInstance(Unknown Source)
     at sun.reflect.DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(Unknown Source)
     at java.lang.reflect.Constructor.newInstance(Unknown Source)
     at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection$6.run(Unknown Source)
     at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)
     at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getChainedException(Unknown Source)
    ......

So I have checked ODBC on server everything was OK (I tested Connection) but I noticed in databases tab that database server name was changed to SPC_mailserver after install. I tried to correct this to mailserver(because that’s the name of that server) but after this test was unsuccessful saying that database server could not be found.
Looking at exception where it states (Unknown Source) I suspect that is main issue (database server name).
Before upgrade in database server name was mailserver and there was no problems.

In RU5 spc is added in front of Server name in RU5 .
What is the database being used.
Run  a repair for SEP and  then try

    Replace server name in console, with server IP address;

    <servername>:8443 with <serveripIP>:8443

    Prachard
Database used is not the SQL (If I understand your question correctly) its Symantec embedded database.
    I have already run repair.
Problem occurs when connecting to server after java starts. So it even not going to the point where I can change server name or IP address. This is problem from remote computers.
If protection manager is launched from the server itself everything is OK.

In the remote computer go to add/remove programs and uninstall the console
access in browser http:/<server ip>:9090 and install it once again and try
(Assuming you mean remote console not remote SEPM)
