    Hi,
My question is After uninstalling the SEP client package from the system. why these folders are not deleting automatic.

    C:\Program Files\Symantec
    C:\Program Files\Symantec Antivirus
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate

some time live update showing in add/remove programs after uninstalling the SEP client.

Before re-installing SEP client package, we need to remove these folder & LU.

I know we can use ClenWipe tool to remove SEP forcely but sometimes, after using cleanwipe tool, it's removing  NIC driver also.

These steps taking more time to install one sep client package.

    Hi,

The folder C:\Program Files\Symantec needs to be removed manually as it is by design

The folder C:\Program Files\Symantec Antivirus exists when you have upgraded from the previous version of SAV and it needs to be deleted manually as it is by design.

The folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate also needs to be removed manually..this is because the Live update is responsible for giving the updates to other Symantec products as well such as Backup Exec..etc. and that's the reason you would see it in the add/remove program option after uninstalling SEP on that machine.

The Cleanwipe tool is not recommended on Domain Controllers

Please let us know if you require further information

I have gone through the entire Manual process of removing this application and still having problems re-installing the product. I have removed all the folders listed  as well.

    I used this solution:

    http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security.nsf/854fa02b4f5013678825731a007d06af/a4cd7d00780ce3dd8825732b005a7638?OpenDocument

Can I please get a copy of this tool.

    @Irizarry

If you have a case already open, just ask the tool you need to the Technical Support Engineer that is managing your case.

    Getting the run around.

I have implemented this product in two environments so far and I'm seriously thinking about pulling out if i cant get some support here.  The amount of time and effort as well as the money i have spent on this product is not acceptable by today's standard. One would think getting a utility that should already be bundled with the product would be doable.  I product that cant un-install itself more than 50% of the time is broken and should not even be on the market as a viable solution.  I wonder if this got out to the press if Symantec Stock would drop....

All im asking for is a little help with a broken application.

Irizarry J, I agree too that cleanwipe has to be easily accessible like it used to be and have posted the same at couple other boards as well.

Anyway, Why dont you just do as they say, Send an email to the technician on your case to send the utility over. There is no reason why you shouldnt get it when you have paid for the support.

Glad you can see where I'm coming from Qfactor, its a powerful tool and not something we want to make publicly available!

    JOHN IRIZARRY,

Once upon a time, I needed the clean wipe utility and was receiving the run around as you have stated.  I simply sent a PM to one of the "symantec personel".  I am not going to name drop but you can easily find them on these boards, and I was given a link to retrieve the tool.

As paul has stated, the "clean wipe tool" can be a tool, as it can be used against you (or any other network) and thus it is not posted on the Web, publicly by Symantec directly, however, I know for fact it is available on the web.  It is the Internet after all and EVERYTHING can be obtained, one way or another.

Honestly though, you are going about retrieving the right way...

    Cheers and Good Luck.

You can try sending someone a PM altough it is not policy to distribute CleanWipe without tech support having a look at your specific case first. I have found that the quickest way to obtain it (better than email) is to call in and talk to one of out tech support about it. Also we have to urge you not to try to obtain CleanWipe via external sources. CleanWipe is a very powerful tool and that is why it is not already "bundled" in the product to begin with. Even from ajeet kumar's origional post you can see that some of his NIC drivers got uninstalled when he ran cleanwipe. You could see why this is not something we will offer a download link for via the forumns.

@Irizarry J- We really don't want you to feel like you are getting the runaround. Please just call in and make a case. Our tech support would be more and happy to give you a copy of cleanwipe. Thanks.

    Hi,

Unless I completely missed it after reading through the thread, can you please post your CASE ID #.  We'll take a look in the system to determine status, and what we CAN do to help.  Send me a PM if you like...

    Best,

Look, Practically things are boiling down to the same point. Getting cleanwipe via the web. So why don't you just make that available? If someone blows the server off with a cleanwipe, There are gonna be 99 others who saved lot of pain by it being easily available. The good intelligent adminstrator should not suffer when the technoilogy is there to make it happen and everyone is so used to getting things done online, Even you - The Tech Support, cause that is the most convenient and efficient way.

Though, Let me tell you something. Cleanwipe is no 8th wonder. The source code is all available and explained like other ESUG utilities and to redesign it by removing all the ESUG utilties and putting in custom or self made batch files made into exe will not be impossible to accomplish as well. If it's so tough to obtain, Someone will probably make one up and put it up there somewhere. This is definately not fair. Having customers pleading for the cleanwipe. Really unfair.
