Hi just an FYI. I have been contacted by our Symantec TAM and he advised that the release date has been pushed back. I would encourage you to contact your Symantec TAM's for details. 

I think we can label this as another failure to deliver to customer expectations. Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 are no longer brand new, and indeed having read the forums it can be clearly seen that Symantec is now holding up SOE projects. I know my organisation is keen to begin offering managed services around these platforms, but one of the key deliverables for that managed service is threat management using SEP. Thus any attempt to market the Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 capabilities is currently stunted due to SEP's lack of support.

So when is the release now scheduled for? I need to know for a client deployment due in the next fortnight. I was hoping to be able to consider using the latest release of SEP, Windows and SQL in the first instance to avoid any upgrade shock to any of the 3 platforms. Now seems I will be constrained to using the existing 12.1 RU1 MP1 release and then go through the pain later. Sure hope this greenfields client is not wanting to use Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012.

I just got a news from my TAM is SEP12 RU2 is targeted to release on Nov 15th. The delay was due to a conflict with DLP endpoint agent.

I wonder if that means that the DLP Endpoint will be closer to being Win8 compatable anytime soon?

@Jamit: I am not sure about that but this is the info I have got. I will have your ques answered by my TAM and update you.

You can also always sign up for the beta. I did this two days ago and went straight through to the download imediately. Currently have 2 clients and a server running with no issues. win8 and server 2012.

Beta is nolonger available just had this through from the Beta program.

I have check file connect and I am still showing 12.1.1. Fingers cross (not that I should have too) it will be available soon!

Just been informed by my contacts that 15/11 US time is the day. That means 16/11 for anyone ahead of the US.

RU2 is Relesed now....

It still does not show up under my FileConnect. Our licenses are valid, active and good through mid-2013. The same thing happened with the newer Mail Security. I had to get a temporary account just to get that. They still have not added it to my FileConnect. This aspect of Symantec's delivery is beyond frustrating.

Hi,

In case you see SEP 12.1 RU2 available for download then it might be in English Edition only.

For local languages you might have to wait for few more days. (Probably till 30th Nov'12)
