  • 1.  SEP RU7 Error - SecurityMiningTask can not lock the process status table

    Posted Aug 12, 2011 02:58 PM

Here's an error that we just noticed on a SEPM that was just upgraded from RU6 MP3 to RU7.

The process SecurityMiningTask can not lock the process status table. The process status has been locked by the server 14D89FE971FC2D12017381EF5248F032 (SecurityMiningTask) since 2011-08-12 12:23:53

The error repeats about every 5-10 minutes.

    Any thoughts??

    -Mike

Nothing comes up with that error in our database. Are you seeing any weird behaviors with the SEPM, or is this an error that you are seeing in the logs. i suggest you open a case with support so that we can get the engineers looking into this.

    Best,

    Thomas

The SEPM seems to be functioning as expected.

The error appears in the status box when on the Admin - > Servers tab in the SEPM.

Have not checked any of the logs.

    P.S. Case has been opened....

    Yeah, I have an update.

After going through two Symantec Engineers the final word, before I gave up, was:

    Hello Mike,

I completely understand the desire to want to know what all the various messages posted in the SEPM mean and the possible impact these may indicate; please understand that we have limited resources which we must focus on high priority issues such as issues which adversely affect the performance of our product and inevitable design issues which lead to various application conflicts.  We are not dismissing your request to investigate the message posted by the SEPM, we simply have not seen any indication that this message is related to any condition which may lead to a problem later on.  I did consult both the Advanced and Backline support groups as well as perform an extensive search in the Information Manager and at this point we do not find any information which gives us cause for concern.

If you have any information which will assist us in determining that this message is related to an issue which adversely affects the performance of our product or which hampers the work environment leading to productivity problems, please let us know and we will investigate further.

Please let me know if you have any questions.  Thank you for choosing Symantec.

Essentially he is saying that because I can't point to any issues with my SEPM's related to the error....that it's not currently worth their time to research it (more pressing issues). Which to a degree I can understand, but then again, we are PAYING for support and it would seem to me that on some level (part time summer intern, etc...) they should look into it.

I guess when it's time to renew our support contract, I'll have another interesting datapoint.

    Hope this helps,

    -Mike
