SEP SBE 12.0 - locking down the clients
Updated: 21 May 2010 | 6 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.
I'm evaluating SEP SBE 12.0, and so far I really like it. Very responsive, especially compared to another unnamed competitor that I'm used to.
One thing that seems to be missing, or at least I can't see how do do it. Is there any way to keep the client from configuring Virus and Spyware Protection? Right now, the Network, Proactive, and Client Management are locked down, but it's possible for a client to get in and completely turn off virus protection.

Hi Tim,
I am still looking into your issue. I have the trial version installed and I am seeing the same problem. I am hoping it is an issue on the trial version only. Can you tell me the build number that you are using?
Thanks,
Thomas

Tim, here is what you need to do to lock down the clients.
1. Click Policies
2. Right click, edit the policy that you are using
3. Select File System Auto Protect
4. Click on the Padlock Icons to lock the settings
This lock can be also be found on Internet, MS Outlook Mail, and Truscan Proactive Threat Scans.
Cheers,
Thomas
Currently we have the full
Currently we have the full version, and in my policies we have Enable File System Auto-protect on, but the pad lock unlocked. Unless there is some advanced way you guys are finding of turning off the antri-virus, only the administrators in our system have the ability to turn off virus protection.
That did it! Thanks much...
