  • 1.  SEP scan client: Slow performance? What happens when computer is off?

    Posted Mar 13, 2013 02:40 AM

    Hello everyone!

I've installed SEP clients on some computers (around 235). It's been working great for a couple of weeks, but now it seems like there is a slow performance issue with the computers. At least, that's what users says. :/

    First question:

I disabled the "the active scan when new definition arrives" option from AV. I wonder if there are other options i should worry about, in order to not affect computers performance.

    Second question:

About the administrator scan scheduled scans. I left the configuration as it is by default (everyday at 00.30).

I wonder what happens if the computer is off at the time:

    a) the computer waits till the next scan scheduled, or

    b) the computer starts whenever the computer is on

If b) is the answer, how can i disable or change this feature, so that scan won't start when computer is on and computer better wait for next scan scheduled (at 00.30)

    Thanks in advance

the active scan when new definition arrives"- will load memory points whenever new defs arrive. this is not a full scan.

A Quick Scan is a fast scan of the following:

    • Files loaded into memory
    • Common virus and security risk loading points, including registry keys and startup files

this should answer all your queries related to missed scan events

If the scheduled scan has been missed the setting for "Missed Scheduled Scans" will be applied - according to this the SEP will retry the scan within x hours - this can be set in the schedule section of the scan properties.
