  • 1.  SEP small business not detecting port scans

    I am trying to learn my network security setup. I have a new laptop with Symantec end point protection (trial).

    When I run online port scanner against my IP address I do not get any alerts from symantec. The nmap results say port 80 is open on my ISP address.

    Should I see connections in the "Network Threat Protection" Traffic logs for this scan?  (also tried grc scan).

    Are you behind a home router? If so, the port scan might not be hitting your PC firewall for SEP to detect..
