  • 1.  SEP Support Tool Symantec Power Eraser STILL doesnt work behind a proxy

    Hi

    I have the problem as others, Power Eraser dosen't work correctly behind a proxy.

    Have tried Cycletech solution:
     
    "Solution

    In your IE settings,

    Go to Tools >> Internet Options >> Connections >> Lan Settings >> Use automatic configuration script needs to be un-checked,
    and then check and set the >> Proxy Server address and port, then Power Eraser will work with a proxy server."

    But this still dosen't work. Can it have something with our proxy needs authentication or?

    I can see in the logs from the support tool that is have detected the right proxy and port. But when it tries to download/processing, is just skips ahead to the scan for risk dialouge. After a push on scan notting happens other that is show a empty dialouge telling that is has "scanned 0 files using  definition"

    Anyone with a idea in how to get it to download definitions?
    What adress are it trying to reach, symantecliveupdate.symantec.com

    Just a note: Had the same problem with the norton tool.

    Hmm - seems that some of my entry got lost...

    The "in your IE settings" part is the solution Cycletech added to another discussion.

    Tried the same IE suggestion that CycleTech had added to another discussion and still no joy. Seems like a very cool addition to the support tool if we could only get it to communicate with the Reputation Database from behind a proxy server.

    This issue will be addressed in the next version coming out in a couple weeks.

    Oki -- Just a quick note.. Mine is working now, you have to be local admin to get it to work...

    I am having issues with trying to get this to work behind a proxy server as well.
    Does anyone know if it will work if the proxy server needs auth?

    Was able to find out the issue. It looks like Power Eraser dosnt like wanting to Auth to go through the proxy. Was able to get the network guys to put in a temp exclusion for the 2 boxes that I wanted to run the scan on and it works. But unfortunatly the virus was unable to be removed :(
