we are planning to upgrade our symantec endpoint protection 11 ru6 mp2 to sep 12.1. however we are experiencing low disk space on the existing sep server. we are planning to setup a new server and install sep 12.1 and just restore the database of existing sep. is this possible?

you cannot restore a database
you cannot restore a database with different SEP version.
You can just install the same SEP version with your existing one (SEP 11 ru6 mp3) to the new server you are setting up. then create a replication partner. after the policies, clients and updates are replicated. you can now upgrade your new sep manager to 12.1 then push updates to your clients.
@ amkyut: Its fine that

Its fine that creating a replication partner and then migrating is possible but situations where there is deploying another physical server ot possible???
I think we need to check whats the cause behind the Low Disk Space. sometimes Database backups, Clients packages, tmp etc uses the space.
Free up the space by Uninstalling the SEPm and Databse and Re-installing and restore the Server Certificates and then migrating is also a way out.
There are several ways but you need to rethink twice to save your time and minimizing the Risk Chances.
