SEP Upgrade
Created: 25 Jul 2012 | 7 comments
Dear All,
I would like to ask. If SEP 12.1 RTM will be upgraded to SEPM RU1 MP1, does it has a feature of going back to SEP 12.1 RTM? How it is done? May I have some docs on it?
In case the Upgrade version will create some error on the the system or conflict with other software, we need to go back to the stable SEP version. we have 552 client to manage.
thank you.

It is always recommended that you migrate the SEPM and Clients from the SEP 12.1 RTM to SEP 12.1 RU1 and then to SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1
SEP 12.1.671 >> SEP 12.1 RU1 >> SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1
Yes, the clients would be able to report back to the SEPM without any issues upon migration.

2) Upgrading or migrating to Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.1101 (RU1 MP1)

NOTE: About Migration paths
Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.1101.401 (RU1 MP1) can migrate seamlessly over the following:
Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.1000.157 (RU1)
Hope that helps!!

Hi,
You are suggested to take a backup prior to upgrade.

There is no method/option to roll back SEPM/SEP version.
You will have to perform disaster recovery in that case.

Hi,
Thank you for the sugestion. I would like also to ask the compatibility issue of SEP 12.1 with other Applications.
I also experience that SEP blocks some software. It will not allow the application to run. Do SEP have a list for software that has compatibility issue with other softwares? and how to solve those issue? thank you

Hi,
SONAR might make false positive detections for certain internal custom applications. Also, if you disable Insight lookups, the number of false positives from SONAR increases
You can change SONAR settings to mitigate false positive detections in general. You can also create exceptions for a specific file or a specific application that SONAR detects as a false positive
