SEP v12.1 Upgrade Clients with Package

I have recently downloaded the newest install package of SEP 12.1.671.4971. I then added the install package to the server via the admin tab -> Add a Client Install Package. I then used the Upgrade Clients with Package setup and added the package to a group I created with just one test PC.  This pc (and all other pcs currently on my entire network) are running SEP 11.0.5002.0.  This pc never updated itself to the new version.  I then threw another couple test PCs in this group, and none of them have updated.

I then even tried to right-click the new 12.1 package and export so that I could install using a single .exe package. This started off and I let it try to complete the task for over 2 hours and it never went past the stage of "Retrieving the package data from the management server..."

I tried to remove the package thinking it may be corrupt, but you cannot remove the newest version of an install package from the server.

What should I do to try and fix this problem? Thanks.

hi

try these steps,

make sure you are running in the console session. I think doing a repair from add/remove programs should fix the issue.

start - run  - %temp%

clear all the temp files, and try to export the package

create a new group and then try to export the package with policies checked from this group.

once package created you have then run the install.

just keep this document handy during migration

I tried these steps, but I still get stuck while exporting the package at the step of "Retrieving the package data from the management server..."

hi

did you create new group in the sepm and tried exporting package with those policies?

check this document, the only thing we missed is running management server configuration wizard

Cannot create package from Migration and Deployment Wizard and Export Client Install Packages

Still unable to export

I did create a new group, but this didn't make a difference. I then went through the steps in the document you posted, but this didn't solve the issue either. It seems like there is something wrong with the download. I can export any package except 12.1.671.4971. This one never has worked in any form, whether I push it out to clients using migration tools, try and update clients with package by adding the package to a group in the management console, or trying to export the package.

I am really in need of having a version newer than 11.0.5 because we have rolled out a new version of a product and we have found that we need version 11.0.6 or higher for this program to work correctly, and we are not able to use this program. Can I have a link to an intermediary download that isn't 12.1 but is higher than 11.0.5 to try that as well? Thanks.

SEPM 12.1

Yes, I have updated my client prior to trying all the updates.  Is there a file path where the packages point to so that I can replace the 12.1 package with a newly downloaded copy?

I cannot remove the package from SEPM because it warns me that this is the newest package and I cannot therefore remove it. When I first downloaded this package, I never did receive the notice that my download completed successfully, but it looked fine and I imported the package. But I am afraid this didn't download completely and that is the issue.

Thanks.

hi

if you try to export to different drive does that work?

drives should have full access for System and administrator.

Export to another drive

I tried to export to another drive and that didn't work either.  But when I export to the same drive I have been trying with an older package, everything is ok. So the drive has the correct rights.  Thanks.

Repairing SEPM

I just tried repairing and I did run into an error while the repair was going on.  It finished after I clicked Don't Send and said that it repaired succesfully though. I will attach the error screenshot I took. Maybe this will be helpful.
