    Dear Partner,

Is installing SEP on vmware virtual machine supported configuration?

In additiona, if I install the vcenter on the same machine in SEP, it will say there is some ports is conflicting and need to change the port to another port, is there any supported technote to say that running  SEP together with vmware vcenter is not a supported configuration and is not recommended?

    Thanks

    Hi

You can install SEP on Vmware

As far as for the ports the following link will give you the brief detail of all the ports used by SEP

    @Chris

    Yes. There is a conflict.

SEPM (by default) uses ports 9090, 8443, and 8005, with the database server running on port 2638. VMWare's Web Access uses ports 8308, 8308, and 8009, with all three specifying "redirectPort" as 8443.  But that shouldn't bother you as both applications allow you to change the port.

In SEP each of the ports on the server can be customized.

TCP Port 80: change the port in IIS and add “scm.iis.http.port=XXX" in conf.properties
TCP Port 433: change the port in IIS and add “scm.iis.https.port=XXX" in conf.properties
TCP Port 8433: change the port using the Server Configuration Assistant wizard
TCP Port 9090: change the port in server.xml and add “scm.server.http.port =XXX" in conf.properties
    UDP Port 1812: add “scm.radius.port =XXX" in conf.properties.

The conf.properties file is located in %Program Files%\Symantec\Symantec Policy Manager\tomcat\etc\
The server.xml file is located in %Program Files%\Symantec\Symantec Policy Manager\tomcat\conf\

    Dear sandeep & Team,

Nice post. I got similar issue here.

SEPM uses 8443,  do you mean if during installation of vcenter, the web http service port  change to 8445 should be fine? Is that what are you tryiing to say?

    Thanks

Exactly......That should be perfectly fine or the other way around...for SEPM.
