SEP will not install on Win 8 machine.

Created: 20 Aug 2013 • Updated: 21 Aug 2013 | 7 comments

When attempting to install SEP_12_1_RU2_64bit on my Windows 8 machine the configuration box appears but then when it finally disappears there are no further indications of the status of the install. I did disable Windows defender and I deleted the update KB2781197.

Here is the install log. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

please make sure that the patch is completely removed or install SEP 12.1 ru3.

is this sep_inst.log? if yes, can you check if sis_inst.log is present as well. The log does not give the reason for rollback.

There is no error code in this log. Double check Windows defender service is completely off.

I would try RU3 if you can as this is a known issue that has been fixed in this version.

Please click the "Mark as solution" link at bottom left on the post that best answers your question. This will benefit admins looking for a solution to the same problem.

Agree with above comments, remove the older version and install the 12.1.3 to fix it
