    Hi All,

Has anyone tried installing SEP on Server core editions of Windows(2008/2012)? I need to know how should I install, uninstall and manage (Update virus definitions manually, replacing sylink etc).

How to uninstall is more tidious because the client will be password protected?

How can check what definitions virus and spyware and other SEP componants are using?

Which SEPM server the client is pointing to and what group does it belongs to?

This I want to check on client-side, not on SEPM.

    Regard,

    Darshan

Yes. I have many times. You can push from the SEPM or you can copy (remotely) the install to a local directory and install install via command line.

It's still relatively simply but everything needs to be done via the command line.

If you wantto open the GUI, just navigate via the command line to the SEP install directory and run SymCorpUI.exe and it will open the SEP GUI. From here you can check the defs and go to Help to see what SEPM it's pointing.

Thanks Brian. So it means that Server Core is not purely command line based as it is claimed. Anyways. Thanks for your suggestions. Does this impmies that to uninstall, I have to Programs and feature snap-in using appwiz.cpl and then uninstall it?

Correct. You can get GUIs, you just need to invoke from a cmd line and know which program to invoke..than it will open a GUI which you can navigate thru like a normal install.

    Correct.
