Good day..

I have a number of thin clients (HP t5740 Thin Client)

These clients come with SEP for Windows XP Embedded v5.

I have on site servers installed with SEP 12

I am currently unable to manage the thin clients using SEP 12.

I know I should download Symantec Policy manager from Fileconnect to do this, but the SEP for XP Embedded came bundled with the HP Thin clients. Therefore we got no serial to enable download from Fileconnect.

How do I get the policy manager? And since SEP 12 requires activation, will it ask me for a serial number should I get hold of the software and install it in my environment?

SEP 12 cannot manage SEP thin ( XP embedded). You can use the trial version until you procure the license from Symantec.

My question is about the serials. If the software came bundled with the hardware, does Symantec give a license? Is it OEM software? Trial? Do I get a serial that enables me to download the necessary software off Fileconnect?

Or should I purchase new software?

you should be checking with the hardware vendor.

The software that comes along with the hardware are usually a trial. Your vendor can give you the information.
