  • 1.  SEP Won't Install Windows 7 - Roll-back Error

    Posted Dec 05, 2011 12:23 AM

I have tried everything that I've been able to find on these forums, but I still cannot install Symantec Endpoint Protection on my "fresh" copy of Windows 7.

I continue to get this error:

"The wizard was interrupted before Symantec Endpoint Protection could be completely installed"

I'm trying to install the following version of SEP: ProductVersion=11.0.6005.562

Here are the last 15 lines from the SEP_INST.log:

try installing using the local administrator. Install LU first and then try installing SEP.

disable User Account Control settings, restart the machine.

Goto Control Panel - Add\remove program > uninstall liveupdate

install liveupdate from the setup and then proceed with SEP installation.

    Please update the status!!

    (copied over from https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/es/forums/ayudaccstopserviceanddepatanycost366-unable-openservice-ccsetmgr-error1060 )

This error can sometimes be seen when there is a threat (virus/worm.spyware) on the computer.  Running the SERT LiveCD  will clear that away even if there is no SEP installed on the computer.  SeeHow To Use the Symantec Endpoint Recovery Tool with the Latest Virus Definitions(http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security....)

I have also seen that error resolved when the old install of SAV or SEP is 100% removed (CleanWipe), DCOM permissions are corrected, the computer re-booted, and msiexec re-registered (Start > Run > msiexec /regserver).  After that the install went fine.

Please keep the forum up-to-date with your progress!

    Hello,

Agreed. "Thumbs Up" to Gurupreet's Suggestion.

Before you install SEP, please Uninstall Liveupdate and then Install the SEP client.

Again, I would also suggest you to Maintain Consistency of Software Versions throughout a SEP 11 Organization and Install the Latest version of SEP on your Environment.

The Latest Version of SEP is SEP 11.0.7101 (RU7 MP1).

Log into your Fileconnect account to get the latest SEP 11 build and Install with the procedure of Migration.

    Hope that helps!!
