    Currently running SEP 11.0, MR4 (11.0.4000.2295)

Clients fail to communicate with management server. Upon logon, a Sprint Mobile Broadband dial-up connection window appears. See attached screenshot (sav_problem.jpg). Viewing the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs folder reveals that many tmpXXX.tmp files are being created instead of actual definition sets. Running the Support Diagnostic Tool throws 1 error message (Proactive Thread Protection definitions are out of date. Proactive Threat Protection is currently not running) and 1 warning (Not currently running the latest release of SEP11). All other checks pass. LiveUpdate service is hung (will not stop).

Manually applying the latest virus definitons from the Symantec website does not work. Uninstall / reinstall does not work. I'm out of ideas. Any help is appreciated.

Go to Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Connections -> Under Dial-Up and VPN Network Settings -> HighLight and delete any available non used Connecion in your Case it will be Sprint Mobile Broadband.

Then below that select Never Dial a Connection.
    Apply and then OK.

Right click on the client and update policy.
Or just go to start run type
smc -stop then wait for 1 minute then again go to start run and type smc -start

How many clients are experiencing this problem?

Is your SEPM Server getting updates?

What happens when you run LUALL.EXE from within the SEP program directory?

There could be a possiblity that the virus defntions may be corrupted so you need to clean them. You can do this manuully or you can use RX4defs for that.
