SEP11 Manager Console does not show new clients

We have SEP11 running on W2K3 Server. It was running fine with no problem. A few weeks ago the IP of the server was changed.
If I look at the SEPMC the number of client computers shows that they are up to date with Virus Definition Distribution. Everytthing looks ok on the SEPMC.
On an old client if click on the icon to open "Helpand Support - Troubleshooting", the group is correct. If I do the same on a new computer that has just had the SEP11 client installed, the group is correct for 2-3 minutes and then it changes to a different group. I know that a policy is making it do that but how do I prevent that from happening on my new machines and why doesn't it affect the old clients?
I hope i haven't confused more than informed on my issue.
If I run the SEP Support tool on a new client it fails the connectivity test with " The Secars communication test failed for these consoles"
I have tested communication and everything seems fine.
Please help.

I don't think that helped

I don't think that helped much with my issue. This is what I see.

1. The Management Console says my client computers are up to date with defintion files.
2. The Management Console - Clients - "Test" group has computer clients and users
3. On a old computer client if I go to the SEP11 icon - "Help and Support" - Troubleshooting - the Group we call "Baker" is correct.
4. On a new computer client install, the Group is correct only for 2-3 minutes and if I do a refresh it changes to another Group we call "Test" for the purposes of this posting. This client never shows up on the Console in any group.
5. If I run the SEP Support Tool on the new computer client the only real clue i get is "The Secars communication test failed for these consoles". The communication link has been tested ok

Which version of SEP  is

Which version of SEP  is installed.

Peter is correct this seems to be an issue with the Mangment server list.

Did you tried replacing the sylink on the these clients ??

Try this on one client :

1.Copy of the file Sylink.xml from the server from C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\data\outbox\agent\
2. On the client computer , click Start > Run, type smc -stop, and click OK.
3. Copy the Sylink.xml into the C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection folder, and replace any existing Sylink.xml file.
4. Click Start > Run, type smc -start, and click OK

If this work replace the sylink on all this clients following any of these:

Did you recently upgrade your SEPM?

I had this after upgrading. The ports changed in the management server list and as soon as the clients got their new policy set, it could never communicate again. First correcting the port and after that corecting clients with the new sylink (I don't recall exactly if I could do that or I had to do a complete removal, restart and install).
Hope this helps,
Coen.
