SEP11 MR4 MP2 and Windows 7
We upgraded a couple of test machines from the RC to the RTM this morning and am getting a "FLAG" on SEP11 MR4 MP2.
Is there a known fix now or is this a wait until its offically support thing?

Sorry... here is the correct image.
On Windows 7 we can only help
On Windows 7 we can only help you to install SEP.
Symantec does not provide support for pre-release and beta operating systems. These instructions are provided for your convenience only. Due to the nature of this procedure, Symantec Technical Support cannot provide support for this procedure.
Symantec will provide full support for Microsoft Windows 7 within 30 days of the date on which Microsoft Windows 7 is released.

Symantec MR5 will be released in September,2009, it will have support for Windows 7
In the mean time we need to wait :(

Which release date are you
Which release date are you referring to? The availability of Windows 7 to volume licensees and those with SA licenses, or the availability to purchase PC's configured with Windows 7, or the availability of retail copies of Windows 7?
Jon
Known issue
Here is another thread, and though this one deals mostly with Vista, its relevant:
https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/sep...
And the Windows Security
And the Windows Security Center issue has been taken care off in MR5

Thank you Prachand and
Thank you Prachand and Jeremy!
Is it MR5 or RU5? I've seen
Is it MR5 or RU5? I've seen both listed in the forums, so I was curious.
Jon
MR5 == RU5
Symantec will be changing it's naming convention again so Maintenance Release (MR) will became Release Update (RU).
MR5 will be called RU 5
MR5 will be called RU 5 (Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 RU5 )

Another thing to keep in mind
I actually just recently installed Windows 7 on my laptop at home. I then installed MR4MP2. All went accordingly, untill I decided to uninstall SEP. I did it just as a test for 7. At that point, my laptop lost all network connections and I was unable to get it back without a format. So keep that in mind. I don't know if it was a fluke or what.
Also it will be known as RU5 and we believe it will be released in September but nothing is set in stone yet.
Symantec Protection Suite Small Business Edition

Any Symantec product will be
Any Symantec product will be supported on Windows7 30 days from the release of Windows 7 RTM
Bharrie,
Endpoint Protection
Symantec Corporation
Next Friday?
So does that mean offical support begins next Friday then (The 21st)? That will be 30 calendar days after Microsoft RTM'ed Windows 7.
I am wondering how on earth
I am wondering how on earth you got Windows 7 RTM so soon when it is planed to release on october 22, 2009!!
I refered the release date from here:
http://windows.microsoft.com/windows-7?os=nonwin7
Bharrie,
Endpoint Protection
Symantec Corporation
RTM means release to
RTM means release to manufacturing. By this, Microsoft provides the copies of the operating systems to the OEMs like HP/DELL etc so that they can customise the product so that it can shipped with the new computers on GA. This was done on 22 July.
The 22 October date is for the General Availabiltiy when you will be able to buy the volume license copy from your favorite vendor/ reseller.
Currently the product is available for download to technet subscribers and thats from where i pulled it down.
Cheers
Anesh V
Did you say 22nd July? I am
Did you say 22nd July? I am still confused, microsoft's earilest release is itself Aug 6.
no where in the blog said a release prior to Aug.

I hope you are speaking about Win 7 RC.
Bharrie,

You should really check your
You should really check your facts, all MSDN, Technet and Subscription people have already received Windows 7 RTM (Final) since about a week ago.
I have it installed on pc's at home and at work already and it works waaaay better then vista ever did for me.
http://www.neowin.net/news/main/09/08/06/windows-7...
As an MSDN subscriber I along
As an MSDN subscriber I along with about 3,000,000 other people got the RTM last week. Its part of my job to stay up on technology and security. To infer that I am doing something illegal is a pretty big jump. My company spends a lot of money with Symantec every year and its my job to make sure the money we spend on AV is actually worth it. I know for a fact that Sophos and McAfee both have Windows 7 options avalible.
To say that I have to wait until October 22nd + 30 Days to have a working copy of AV is pretty unacceptable.
It's not just TechNet and
It's not just TechNet and MSDN users who received Windows 7 yet. Those of us on Software Assurance and Volume License agreements with Microsoft have already received it too. I work at a University, and we downloaded our copies right out of Microsoft's Licensing web site. We'll be able to download Server 2008 R2 from MSDN and TechNet on Friday the 14th as well, and then can get it from the Licensing site on the 19th.
This link at Microsoft explains who gets the OS when. There are thousands of legitimate customers who have already received their copies, about the only people who have to wait until October 22 to get Windows 7 are those who want to buy a shrinkwrapped box of it at a retail store.
You guys all make good points
You guys all make good points regarding the release date and who get's what when. I was assuming when they told us that we would be supporting Windows 7 1 month after the release means 1 month after the october 22, 2009 date. If I am wrong someone can post, but I am 98% sure that it will be 1 month after october 22, 2009.

If you have worries with
If you have worries with regards in installing SEP in windows 7 just wait the time until the support is available before you install SEP
:-)
Because running a machine
Because running a machine with NO AV is a smart thing to do?
not is that what I mean
not is that what I mean though, is majority of your workstation are using windows 7?
:-)
Install only Antivirus and
Install only Antivirus and Antispyware Feature of SEP MR4MP2 it should work fine..

Win 7
In respsonse to BharRie wondering how Win 7 RTM got released...Some / most of us Microsoft customers get adavance copies at almost the same time OEM's do under our Enterprise Software Assurance agreements and are testing and probably deploying it as I write this. The sad part is Symantec is vague on release answers for a software release of End Point to support this. We pay Symantec fees to get answers and support and I got the lamest answer from support the other day on a release date. It was more like no answer at all. I found it refreshing that Sunbelt Software your competitor released drivers for their client and Enterprise proucts within days of Windows 7 RTM releases to MS SA customers and gave straight up answers as to their releases. Symantec is large company with an army of programmers that should be protecting their paying customers and we can't get a straight answer out of anyone over there let alone any updated software.
Customer service at Symantec is poor at best.
BharRie this is not pointed at you but at Symantec as a company.
You mae some really good
You mae some really good points. All I want is a straight answer.
We need those date to adjust our project timelines
We need those date to adjust our project timelines. last time I heard was the end of September fro RU 5 release, Syamntec support, is this date still feasible?
Amen!
There were a lot of symantec employees in this thread when they were telling us that its not available. Haven't seen one to tell us when it will be so we can adjust or windows 7 deployment time lines.
I think it's a little
I think it's a little unreasonable to to demand that symantec provide a definitive ship date for an OS that isn't officially shipping until October 22nd.
Regardless of the RTM date of Win 7, those who have worked in large enterprises know that we can hardly expect compatibility of any of our software on the official release date of a new OS. My experience shows that it usually takes a quarter or two to get all the apps certified. (and thats from large firms).
For those who are working on large deployments of win7 and SEP, I figure you are large enough to have a TAM assigned. They could probably provide you the beta of the RU5 code so you could get moving.
Definitave no but eta yes
I would say yes giveing a definitative date is not resonable but an eta is not unreasonable. A company the size of Symantec has probably been working on this for some time now and should have an idea at how long its going to take to complete. Something as important as AV I would expect to be ready to be fully funtional by the time it hits big box release. The sooner that it is out there the better though I am hopeing to see it in the next 3 weeks.
I thought someone mentioned
I thought someone mentioned that RU5 was going to be finished and released in September. If they did, i'd be very impressed.
Yes you are right RU 5 will
Yes you are right RU 5 will be released in the first part Sep,2009
