Created: 24 Jan 2013 | Updated: 25 Jan 2013 | 7 comments
Hi there,
I installed SEP11 and checked the Proactive Thread Protection on a MS Server 2008 R2 64-Bit and it is in a closed are with no internet, so I can't update.
How do I uninstall PTP from this server, tried several forums, did not see any steps.
Thank you

I would start by locating the SEP specific community forum to ask the same question in as you have posted in the Backup Exec forum which may have limited experience of SEP.
Try here
https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/security/forums/endpoint-protection-antivirus
and possibly even read this

using add/remove program you can uninstall PTP component. anyways PTP does not work on server OS in SEP 11, hence you can leave as it is.
Cheers!

As mentioned above PTP/Truscan in SEP 11 is not compatible with any MS Server OS:
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag...
In order to use it you would require SEP 12.1
In order to remove it go into Add/Remove Programs -> Select SEP installation -> Change -> Remove the check mark next to the PTP component -> proceed with the deinstallation of PTP.
Hi,
Please go through the below mention path..:
In sep 11 version PTP component is not supported on server OS, But in SEP 12 it is supported,
So you can install SEP 12 or you can uninstall PTP component.
Start --> Control Panel --> Programs & Features --> Select Symantec End point protection (SEP)--> Click Change --> Select Modify --> Uncheck Proactive threat protection --> Click Next --> Finish
It will remove PTP feature.
