  • 1.  SEP12.1 client installation on SBS2003

    Posted Oct 11, 2012 12:14 AM

    Dear,

    I am currently running SEP client 11.0.4202.75 version on windows small business server 2003(SBS2003), I would like upgrade this client to SEP 12.1 client as the feature set only to install the Basic Protection for Server.

    Is there any known issues for SEP12.1 clients on SBS2003? as I am extremely cautious since it is a production server.

    Required your valuable advise.

    Thanks,

    Hi

    Check this: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH168601

    Other than this I couldn't find any other issues. SEP 12.1 is fully compatible with Windows Small Business Server 2003.

    Still, I have seen my customers using SEP 12.1 on Windows Small Business Server 2003, without any issues.

    Decision is yours...

    Cheers.

    HI,

    Upgrade path should be SEP 11.x --> SEP 12.1 RU1 --> SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1

    We have seen issues where SEP client starts malfunctioning after following non supported upgrade path but server releated we don't find any such issue.

    Also: if the hardware of that server is 10 years old, you may wish to ensure that there is ample RAM, hard drive space, etc for any program to function well.
