Separate retention category policies for journal & user archives
Created: 07 Feb 2013 | Updated: 01 Mar 2013 | 1 comment
This issue has been solved. See solution.
I see in 10.0.3 you can apply a separate policy to the journal mailbox. It would appear (as long as your archives are in separate vault store groups) that this would allow me to put different policies in place. We have never enabled storage expiry and would like to have that start happening on the user archives but have the journal archive never delete anything. Has anyone done this or have any best practice tips they can offer?
Thanks

EV has always been able to seperate out the retentions for mailbox and journal archives
You set the default retention on the provisioning group for mailboxes
You set the default retention on the journal target for journaling
You can also use EVPM to set different retentions to different users and different folders in their mailbox
Your easiest best bet is to go to the Journal Archives proerties and under the Advanced tab , uncheck "Enable archive for expiry" then when expiry runs it will ignore those journal archives and only process your user mailboxes
