    Hi,

I am new to this forum as well as to SEPM, so my apologies if i use some layman terms or ask basic doubts.

I installed SEPM 11.0.6005.562 in Windows 2003 server. After installing i created a package (Default package), and added all my 15 winxp clients. I could see all the clients showing green computer icon in the clients console.

I dont know how to do update from my server console. I went to liveupdate on lefthandside panel in console and tried the options continuously, fixed time etc. but nothing seems to really updating. What is the way to do this update and deploy to all clients.

    Thanks in advance

    Updated

    Hi,

SEPM machine should have internet connectivity.

You should be able to access following sites successfully.

    http://liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com

    http://liveupdate.symantec.com

If there is any proxy in the network, make sure you have entered proxy settings correctly

Configuring Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager to connect to a proxy server to access the Internet

Meanwhile try to run liveupdate manually i.e. Start --> Run --> Luall.exe

Check whether liveupdate runs successfully or not.

Yes there is internet connection and i could access the sites you have mentioned.

There is an option in the clients also to do liveupdate. When i click liveupdate from one of the client which is also connected to internet it updates successfully but it updates only to itself and not the server or other clients.

Do you have install unmagaed Client ?

Your SEPM manager are updated or not ?

If your sepm console not update kindly configure this setting in your sepm console.

To configure a site to download updates from the Symantec LiveUpdate server

    1. In the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager console, click Admin.
    2. In the "Tasks" pane, click Servers.
    3. In the "View" pane, right-click Local Site, and then click Edit Site Properties.
    4. In the "Site Properties" dialog box, on the "LiveUpdate" tab, under "Download Schedule", set the scheduling options for how often the server should check for updates.
    5. Under "Update Types to Download", inspect the list of update types that are downloaded.
    6. To add or delete an update type, click Change Selection, modify the list, and then click OK.
    7. Under Languages, inspect the list of languages of the update types that are downloaded.
    8. To add or delete a language, click Change Selection, modify the list, and then click OK.
    9. Under LiveUpdate Source servers, ensure that the LiveUpdate Source server is set to Symantec LiveUpdate server
      This is the default setting.
    10. Click OK.

    Hello,

Is the SEPM server updated with Latest Virus Definitions?

Is there Internet on the SEPM server?

Incase, the SEPM not updated with Latest Definitions, it would not be able to provide the Latest definitions to client as well.

Could you work on the steps below:

    1) Login to SEPM

    2) Click on Admin

    3) Click on Servers

    4) Highlight the Local site and then click on Download Liveupdate content.

    5) Click on Download.

This would download the definitions from the Internet and update the definitions in the SEPM.

Once, the Download is completed successfully.

Click on Clients >> Right click on the Group (under which the clients are reporting to) >> Click on Run command on the Group >> Update content.

This would push all the definitions update to the clients.

If the SEPM server does not have Internet, then you could manually download the .jdb file from

    http://www.symantec.com/security_response/definitions/download/detail.jsp?gid=savce

and then by following the steps provided in the Article below:

Are these machines reporting to the SEPM?

If so, have you configured the LU policy for the specific groups?

has the clients downloaded the policies?

Is the SEPM updated with latest defs?
