SEPM 12.1 cannot start

Created: 08 Aug 2012 • Updated: 14 Aug 2012 | 12 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

This morning for some windows winsxs directory reasons, the SEPM server got 0 MB free space on the hard drive.

The SEPM services all stopped, and i could not start them. I thought of repairing SEPM, clean up the possible corrupt updates dowloads but nothing seems to work.

In fact the repairing is resulting into the configuration wizard telling me to install new site, while there was already another site.

How much space on c:\ ?

whats the event log when you try to start the service and it does not work ?

please post scm-server-0.log for analysis .

Follow the article below and put scm on finest and then upload the txt logs here

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH102413

Alternatively try below ,access directory below

C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\tomcat\conf\server.xml

open server.xml in notepad and change the port at the top from 8005 to 8006

and then restart the service and check might help!

I believe the Server Configuration Assistant is the Management Server Configuration Wizard... when i run it reaches a point that it will connect to the existing database but the user data will be lost.. should i just go ahead.

For your own information i have the database (SQL server 2008) and a recovery file.

Above is the error from debug , in my opinion reinstalling SEPM is good idea , make sure to keep you SQL data which is intact .

had problem with opening the webcase. Nevertheless i took your advice, and reinstalled tSEPM and the database, using the Recovery File that i usually back up.

Everything is back to normal, now trying to find out what causes hard disk space to run out on Win 2008.. thanks.
