Endpoint Protection

We are operating SEPM on Server 2008 and every time we log into SEPM it can take over 45mins to open and is slowing down the network.

I have followed the proceedur to shrink the Embedded Database and all this did was slow down the system even more.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you. 

CPU operates on avg around 1% to 30% varable, Physical Memory 42%

I have notice that Symantec Live Update is running too long - approx 2hrs then boms out.

After I shrinked the Embedded Database file Sizes are:

sem5.db 5,320,016 KB

sem5.log 1,134,272KB

Prior to shinking the Embedded Database file Sizes were:

sem5.db 7,723,658 KB

sem5.log 497,856 KB

The sem5.db has reduced in size but the sem5.log has increased in size.

I have finally been able to login the SEPM Console and checked on the Liveupdate, it started at 3:45am and finished successfully at 10:58am...I presume this is causing the system to slow down,

Anyway of fixing this issue.

Have you considered getting to the latest version, 12.1.5?

Upgrading or migrating to Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.5

I will plan out the Mirgration and upgrade to SEP 12.1.5 and monitor.

Migrated over the weekend and I can't believe how much disk space was cleared and the improved performance.  The issues that we were having are now rectified and our Server / Network performance has improved.

It was worth upgrading even thou the installation took a very long time.

It was one time only thing for 12.1.5. Subsequent install should be much shorter.
