  • 1.  SEPM 12.1 Upgrade - Database Issue

    Posted Aug 05, 2011 08:32 AM

When running the upgrade wizard I get an error about access to the database:

"SQL Server is configured in Windows Authentication mode, but the current account does not have the access required to upgrade the database. Installation cannot proceed"

The account definately has the desired access and I've tried several accounts. Any suggestions please?

What happens when you switch to SQL server authentication?

This is something you would need to change on that SQL box.

It's already set to mixed mode so SQL and Windows accounts should work...

Well the funny thing is, I'm trying to upgrade to 12.1 this morning and I'm having the same issue. Won't take my SQL credentials even though I can remote to that SQL box and put in the same credentials and get full access to the database....so now I'm stuck too...lol

    Try this ,

Go to your SQL Server right click properties for Sem5 db in SQL , look for db_owner (select this )

close SQL re run management server upgrade wizard .

Got it working... the wizard looks at the currently installed management server and looks to see if it is currently using windows or sql authentication. It then uses that method to do the upgrade and doesn't give you a choice.

In the end i ran the existing management server configuration wizard and reconfigured it to use SQL authentication. I then ran the 12.1 upgrade wizard and it used SQL credentials, at which point I entered the sa password and it was happy. The plan is to then switch it back to windows credentials afterwards all being well.
