SEP 12.1 RU4 are Support for Microsoft Windows 8.1.

In Windows Server 2012 (Core Edition) are supported in SEP 12.1.2.

You need to upgrade Your SEPM 12.1.2 to SEPM 12.1.4MP1 or you can install SEP Client 12.1.4MP1 on windows 8.1. system and SEPM 12.1.2 can we managed SEP 12.1.4 client.

So, summary is..

Microsoft Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 (Core Edition) is not supported by 12.1.2...right?

Only solution is to upgrade?

SEP 12.1.2 are not supported Windows 8.1.But Windows Server 2012 Core Edition are supported.

If SEPM upgradtion not possible for early you can download SEP 12.1.4 MP1 package for file connect and install Windows 8.1 system and replace sylink.xml for communication your SEPM.

Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.4 client-only patches

They're not supported on 12.1.2 but you can get them to install if in a pinch. However, best option is to get to 12.1.4 which provides first support for 8.1 and 2012 core.

Or go the way of importng a 12.1.4 client package into your 12.1.2 SEPM. a 12.1 SEPM can manage any version of 12.1

--> It does support installatin of Windows Server 2012.

It does not support installation of SEP client on Windows 8.1.
