Hello all ,  I want to know that once a client is purged for not connecting with the SEPM (default period being 60 days ) then once the client is purged based on this criteria for not connecting with SEPM . Then does the license seat that this agent is occupying gets vacant or not ?

I would appreciate if someone can tell me that whether it is true becuase the logic is

The license count is maintained and kept on SEPM console so if the client is not communicating with SEPM and if the treshold ( default 60 days ) is met then the client will be purged from SEPM console.

So once the client is purged from SEPM console based on this criteria then the lincese seat this agent is occupying then does this license seat gets vacant or not ?

Hello Outrageous, yes the license gets released once the count of machines are less.

You can use that license for other machines.

when client offline, the entry is still in SEPM, the license is counted

when client is deleted from SEPM ( default 60 days ) license is released

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/reusing-sep-license

    Here is the symantec document

The following procedure will cause the SEPM to remove clients from its database that have not checked in within the past 24 hours, and thereby reclaim these license seats

    Outrageous,

The answer is Yes. Once the client is purged or manually deleted, the license is freed up.

    Licensing Symantec Endpoint Protection

Troubleshooting license issues for Symantec Endpoint Protection

"The following procedure will cause the SEPM to remove clients from its database that have not checked in within the past 24 hours, and thereby reclaim these license seats. If the number of installed clients is more than the license seat count then this will not resolve the issue. In that case more seats would need to be purchased."
