    Posted Jan 29, 2015 05:59 AM

    Hi,

I wondered if anyone know how to assign hosname instead of ip address when managing locations:

on Clients sections --> select OU--> go to Policies tab --> edit one exisiting location

on the "switch to this location..." click Add --> when dropdown choosing "type" -  we don't have "Hostname" only IP Address and other options..

    is it by design?

the case is if one PC changed IP- I want usually to stay in this location.

any one know how to? workaround ..etc..?

    Thanks

    Abed

It's by design, as a workaround you can set the criteria like IP address range.

Best to use IP range since Computer Name can change at any time. Usually if you fall into the IP range it would remain consistent.

There is only an indirect way.

You can insert the host name in a Host Group:

Policies > Policy Components > Host Groups

This Host Group can be used in location switching.

But as Brian says, best is to use an IP range.
