  • 1.  SEPM 3.0 DB Backup Prob - DB Size 8GB - SEPM Working Fine

    SEPM 3.0 Windows Server 2003 R2

    DB Size 8GB

    Cant backup, when I run backup the zip size is only 500MB and then get these errors in logs.

    SEPM is working perfect with 30 clients.

    Logs are also showing many errors like as below

    02/28/2013 14:32:00 An unexpected exception has occurred Site AD-OCS AD-OCS Severe Cannot load handler com.sygate.scm.server.logreader.av.LogHandler for inbox /inbox/log/tex/AvMan
    2/28/2013 14:19:15 An unexpected exception has occurred Site AD OCS AD OCS Severe Java heap space

     

    Other Information:
    1) I am taking backup for disaster recovery plan because I got license and now planning to migrate to 4.0.

    2) I dont have chance for clean install, I need to proceed with safe migration.

    3) Befoe I upgrade, I have to backup DB and I am facing above issue.

    Someone from Symantec support, please assit me to resolve this issue.

    Two ways of taking the back up , one within console and next from allprograms -symantec endpoint-backup/restore? which one you are using?

    What is exact version of SEPM, 11.x or 12.1?

    Its 11.x

    and I am taking backup within console.

    does it work if you start from all programs -endpoint manager?

    check the permissions on the backup folder.

    You had there an error regarding the Java Space heap - try addressing this issue first by adusting the values as per KB:

    The backup was successful from Symantec endpoint-backup/restore.

    Is this 8GB DB size is normal before I proceed with migration to 12.1?

    What is the success average for migration?

    its pretty smooth. take the necessary certificate backup before upgrade.

    With your amount of clients 8GB looks fine.

    You are upgrading already within 12.1 product range so it should go without problems - have a look at the migration documentation:
