  • 1.  SEPM Blocking Shared USB Printers in Workgroup

    Posted Sep 08, 2014 03:18 PM

I recently installed SEPM on a workgroup and since then there have been issues printing to shared USB printers.

User1 will print to User2's shared USB printer and User2 will get a notification that SEP will block User1's IP address for 600 seconds. I checked the log files and the rule it falls under is "Block all other IP traffic and log"

How would I resolve this? According to the users it only happens intermittently because User1 is able to sometimes get print jobs through. I need to be able to have anyone that has the shared printer installed to be able to print to it.

All machines are running Windows 7 and are on the same wokgroup.

Go onto your firewall policy >> Protection and Stealth tab and uncheck "Automatically Block an attacker's IP address"

Or best thing to do would be to create a firewall rules to allow the traffic

I am very new with creating rules. Would I just create a rule to allow their individual IPs? Or can I make it for all internal IP addresses are not blocked?

Depends on how granular and secure you want to be but you can do either of the above. Allowing access from only one user to another is more secure than opening it up for all internal.

I have not had this problem in the past with SEPM on computers that are on a domain. Could this problem be because it is on a workgroup and not a domain?

Shouldn't really matter, the rules should not be dependant on that scenario.
