  • 1.  SEPM with client on different version

    Posted Nov 26, 2013 05:46 PM

Is there any issues running the new SEP client 12.1.4 with the SEPM server still on version 12.1.1?

We are extremely worried about some new viral activity and would like to have all clients upgraded to the latest version however we are pending on a server migration for SEPM (which will include the update to the latest version).

I've tested the Auto-update client functionality, deploying client 12.1.4 with the 12.1.1 SEPM and I havent noticed any issues, just wanted to post in case there were any known problems that may occure using a mismatched server / client version?

I've been trauling the forums for a bit and I found a couple of posts stating the as long as the base version is the same (i.e 12.1.x) then there should be no issues.

SEPM 12.1 can manage any version of 11.x or 12.1. It's always recommended to be on the same version (client and SEPM) but will still work fine in terms of getting updates and policy, etc.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks for the response.

That was the conclusion I got,  it's unfortunate timing but the server migration is already planned and I dont want to wait for the client upgrade but I'm sure it should be fine!

Yep, you should be fine. Many new changes were made in 12.1 and this was a nice addition.
