I really need to get this issue fixed, it is driving me absolutely crazy. The SEPM console window either becomes A. TOTALLY Black or B. The outer panes of the SEPM console are black and inaccessible, both ways makes SEPM  totally useless at that point, these black periods can last for HOURS at a time. I really NEED this to work ALL the time during production hours, is there ANY way I can change this? If it is an update, I would like it to run between 12AM and 6AM. It's very annoying and I really need access to it at all times. I am using SEPM 11.6 (don't know the rest, becuaste the window is black right now) and it is installed on a Windows 2003 32 bit server.

Looks like a graphic driver issue.  Where the driver is unable to output the screen properly...

Have  you tried updating the driver?

I know, I read, I saw it happens for hours at a time and than "automagically" fixes itself.  All the more reason it could be a driver issue.  Is it an on-board, shared memory card?

Take the backup of the registry before making any changes

Stop the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager service.

Set the following two registry values:

    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\semsrv\Parameters\
    JVM Option Number 0=-Xms1024m
    JVM Option Number 1=-Xmx1024m
    JVM Option Number 2=-XX:MinHeapFreeRatio=40
    JVM Option Number 3=-XX:MaxHeapFreeRatio=70

Start the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager service.

JVM Options 0 and 1 are the Java minimum and maximum heap sizes for the SEPM. You cannot increase either of these beyond 1024m; if you do, the SEPM service will not start and you cannot login until the value is set back down. This is an inherent limitation of the Java Virtual Machine. For more details on these values, see "Technical Information" below.

I do not believe it is the driver.

Repair the SEPM and see  if that helps.

    Hi,

This issue may occur with many reasons like your CPU utilization, Internet Explorer, Low Memory, Java unsupportable version, display or graphics drivers of server and many more.

You have to troubleshoot one by one with them to resolve this.
