This will be the DB password set during installation - it may be the same as the admin password you use to login the console if it hasn't been changed since installation.

You are using 11 MR2 - this version is 3 years old upgrade would be really recommended, currently newest SEP 11 Release is RU7 MP3

    Hello,

I would suggest you to follow the steps provided in the Article:

Disk Space Management procedures for the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH96214

Secondly, You are running a very old version of SEPM 11.0.2000 which was released on Apr 2008

Currently Latest version is SEPM 11. 0.7300.

What are the Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) versions released officially?

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/what-are-symantec-endpoint-protection-sep-versions-released-officially

I would highly recommend you to migrate the Latest version to SEPM 11. 0.7300

    Check this Article:

    Latest Symantec Endpoint Protection Releases - SEP 12.1 RU2 and SEP 11.0 RU7 MP3

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/latest-symantec-endpoint-protection-releases-symantec-endpoint-protection-121-ru2

If you are planning to upgrade or migrate to Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.2, please take a look at the latest how-to article created by our very own SEP content council team.

    Hope that helps!!!

The version what you are using is very old more than 3 years old i guess. this version had lot of bugs.

    install the latest 12.1 version.

since you have only 20 clients.

a fresh install would help you a lot.

    Hi,

Will it be possible to upgrade to the lateset SEP version i.e. SEP 12.1 RU2?

Upgrade is free for all the existing SEP 11 customers.

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/sep-11x-sep-121-upgrade-process-graphical-overview

It's also important to know what are the new features in SEP 12.1

Few differences between SEP 11.x and SEP 12.1 EE

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/feature-differences-between-sep-11x-and-sep-121

If not planning to make the upgrade, then refer the following articles

Changing the log settings to reduce the size of the database.

    I hope it's informative.

    Many thanks for you all.

Because our subscriptiion is expired and it was not renewable so we have already placed the order to a local vendor for SYMC PROTECTION SUITE ENTERPRISE EDITION 4.0 Upgrade.

Hopefully we will recieved the license within the start of next week and then I will plan for upgrade.

    1) Now should I wait for DB SHRINK or I can go ahead?

    2) SEPM password was changed several times and I dont know the password because it was installed in 2008 by some other Administrator.

    Hi,

DB shrink tool is designed for SEP 12.1 product.

In your case I would suggest wait till you receive new product subsciption if you have sufficient disk space available.

Instead of an upgrade I would suggest to go with fresh install because in future you may required DBA password.

    Promote this idea: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/ideas/sepm-should-store-dba-password-cache-or-should-have-access-reset-dba-password-admin-embedded-d

However give a try to recover the DB password with the help of following article.

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/how-find-database-password-odbc

If plannig to do a fresh install then can refer this artilce

    Hello,

    Upon checking your Thread:

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/symc-disk-full

It seems your issue is resolved.

I understand your situation. In your case, here are the Answers -

    1) Now should I wait for DB SHRINK or I can go ahead?

Since you have only 30 clients and running a 8 GB Database which seems obvious that the Database may have some corruption.

I would suggest you to go ahead with Migration.

    2) SEPM password was changed several times and I dont know the password because it was installed in 2008 by some other Administrator.

Since SEPM password has been changed a number of time, you could still change the password as you do not know.

This could be done via resetpass.bat.

To reset the password, follow the below steps:

    1. Open a command prompt window.

    2. Navigate to the Tools subfolder in the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager directory on the drive and location where you installed the manager.

Note: The default installation path is C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Tools

    3. From the command line run the batch file named "resetpass.bat" This will reset the password to a default user name and password of admin/admin.

    4. Following login, user will be prompted to change the password. The password may be the same as the previous password.

    Hope that helps!!

    Dear Mithun Sanghavi.

I would be getting SYMC PROTECTION SUITE ENTERPRISE EDITION 4.0 license in next week. As you said, I will proceed for Migration. (I cant shrink DB in current version right?)

How can I migrate to Version 11 to SYMC PROTECTION SUITE ENTERPRISE EDITION 4.0? Any help documents, checklist or things to consider for safe migration?

    Thank you
