SEPM Domain Authentication
Created: 18 Mar 2013 | 4 comments
I had our SEPM linked to our primary domain controller and had all the admin user accounts tied through that. One of my IT members demoted the primary controller without me knowing, and now I do not know how to log into SEPM to change my domain controller. Every username and password that I have tried comes back with an errro that says "the administrator's username or password is incorrect. Type a valid username and password."
Is there some registry hack I can perform to change the IP address and point to our new primary domain controller? Thanks.

Did you try logging in with the built-in admin account "admin" and whatever the password is?
On the SEPM login page click "Forgot your password" link and Type the user name "admin" then click "Temporary Password'. You will receive a temporary password to login.

I tried sending a temporary password and never got an email. I sent it using my credentials for the username and also tried admin. And yes, I have tried the admin with a password and that didn't work either. Same error message.
Open a support case, they should be able to assist.

Hello,
The password is case sensitive. So please be careful when providing the password.
Secondly, check these threads with similar issue -

WARNING:
Do not use the built-in SEPM "admin" account when setting up Active Directory Authentication, as this could lock you out of SEPM with an "Authentication Failure" when changing the Active Directory account, or when upgrading Active Directory, or when changing the Active Directory mode, or when removing SEPM(s) as a replication partner.
SEPM Active Directory Authentication is only supported for Admin accounts that have been created in SEPM by clicking "Add Administrator."
NOTE: The SEPM user name is taken from SEPM database while the password is taken from Active Directory for the account you specified in Account Name.
Hope that helps!!
